Filitheyo is known for it's kitcken. Rightly so...
Filitheyo was the first island in the Maldives that we visited. One of our strongest memories was the excellent dining. Then, several years ago, we thought that all the resorts had a similarly high level. But it is not. Filitheyo is simply a class by itself.

The restaurant is accommodated in four giant, joined bungalows without walls. The roofs are covered with palm fronds in a classic, balinensisk style. Here you eat breakfast, lunch and dinner (if you want a change in the environment, you can also eat at The Sunset Bar, which has its own kitchen). The first day you will be assigned both your own table and your own waiter. Then you have the same table and same waiter throughout your stay.

Buffet Hall is square and your eyes will immediately be caught by the boat which is positioned in the middle. On the boat you always find a variety of curry dishes alternating every day, although some returns. Our personal favorite was the Chicken Tikka. The sides are lined with eight different "foodstations" and as many chefs. Again, the range varies but there is always a station for the pasta (you choose the ingredients and the chef cook your pasta while watching) and sashimi and sushi. A third chef grills reef fishes. The diversity of dishes is large: Pasta, pizza, shish kebabs along with fish and curries.

On paper, maybe it sounds a bit wrong to eat pizza and pasta in the Maldives but when you have eaten curry for a couple of days, it's a good break. And not least: It is much appreciated by all children. Especially the pasta is popular.

Last but not least: Filitheyo have a whole buffet of fabulous desserts. Ice cream, cobbler, cakes and sorbets in long lines. Just as beautifully presented as they are good. Personally, I rank the great food and a good house reef as the two most important factors when we select resort. Filitheyo have both and it is one of several reasons why the island has so many returning guests. I conclude by listing the family's favorite dishes:
Joakim: Sashimi of fresh reef fish, the Korean sushi with the flavor of the chicken and the traditional curry dishes
AnnaCarin: The Korean sushi, curry chicken tikka and apple crumb pie
Julia 17 years: Grilled reef fish, pasta and fajitas
Alice 15 years: Fresh fruit and all desserts, especially the icecream and sorbets!
Vilgot 8 months: Mashed banana and all other fruits as a chef serves from a refrigerated display
